John Cullen
John was an extremely experienced organist and choral director. He was a former organ scholar of Christ's College, Cambridge and Director of Music for many years at one of England's leading independent schools. When he retired, he worked with a variety of choirs as well as composing music. He created a large number of descants over the years, each one reflecting the style of the tune as well as the words. Many use contrapuntal techniques and all contain very imaginative harmonisations.This website was created by his family to share his work with others.We hope that you will try them out. If you have any feedback about the descants - where they were used, how the choir responded to them etc., we would be delighted to hear from you.
